Madrid (Spain), 29 Apr. (LaPresse) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during the government's control session in the Congress of Deputies tried to ease the tensions that had arisen with the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV). The center-right PNV is one of the political formations that are not part of the executive but have externally supported Sanchez's investiture as prime minister, refusing instead to support a People's Party government also supported by Vox. Tensions arose after socialists in Basque countries yesterday published an AI-generated photo of PNV president Aitor Esteban jumping into a swimming pool, which Basque nationalists considered disrespectful. So much so that Esteban cancelled a meeting scheduled with the Socialists. Pnv spokeswoman in Parliament Maribel Vaquero, addressing Sanchez this morning, told him: "You will know how you want to approach the next elections and whether you want company or not." The Socialist leader responded that he intended to end the legislature "in good company," with the PNV at his side. The prime minister has therefore once again ruled out early elections in Spain.
