Milan, 13 June (LaPresse) – The leader of the Reform UK party, Nigel Farage, believes that the anti-migrant unrest that has erupted in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is just the start of greater tensions and riots. ‘Certainly, if we don’t find solutions to this problem,’ he said in an interview with La Repubblica. When asked if he believes white people are discriminated against in the UK, he replied: ‘Without a doubt. Go and speak to British police officers: they are terrified of being labelled racist and therefore suspended.’ He then recalled Brexit, approved ten years ago by a referendum. “I’ve been waiting for this moment since I was 20… without me, without my campaigns as an MEP in Brussels, without YouTube which started spreading my videos bypassing the traditional media, Brexit would never have happened!” he says, “many voted for Brexit to take back control but it didn’t happen because we didn’t want it to.” On lifetime residence permits for foreigners, Farage then clarifies: “Our position is clear to the rest of the world. For Europeans, we would have to negotiate with the EU. Because lifetime residency includes access to benefits and social housing. There are now neighbourhoods in London where 50% of social housing goes to foreigners who sometimes don’t even speak a word of English. That’s why the working-class left now votes for us en masse.”
