Rome, 17 Apr. (LaPresse) – Trasportounito has confirmed a five-day road transport strike starting at midnight on Sunday and running until 24 April. “The rise in fuel costs,” says Maurizio Longo, general secretary of Trasportounito, in a statement, “has triggered a crisis of unprecedented severity; and this is happening amidst the total inaction of the institutions and the relevant ministry; paradoxically, the only institution that has paid any attention to the road haulage sector is the strike committee for essential public services, which has repeatedly attempted to obstruct a strike that reflects a business sector now suffocated by debt and inexorably heading towards bankruptcy".
