Rome, 6 June (LaPresse) – The Ministry of Economy’s decree extending the cut in excise duty on fuel has been published in the Official Gazette. The reduction will apply “from 7 June 2026 until 3 July 2026”. To cover the shortfall in revenue, 149.4 million euros will be drawn from the additional VAT revenue generated between 1 May and 31 May 2026. The new decree issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which extends the reduction in fuel excise duties until 3 July, confirms the 5-cent discount on petrol, whilst halving the discount on diesel from 10 to 5 cents.
