Milan, 11 May (LaPresse) – The Rome derby between Roma and Lazio will be played at 12.30 pm on Sunday, alongside other matches involving teams in the race for the Champions League. This was explained by Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo speaking to La Politica del Pallone on Gr Parlamento. In addition to the Derby, therefore, Genoa v Milan, Juventus v Fiorentina and Como v Parma will also be played at lunchtime. "The Rome Derby? It will be played at 12.30 pm. Because no other option is viable; unfortunately, it is not possible to play a derby in Rome in the evening, given that some fans ran the city ragged after we had managed to convince the police to authorise the match at 8.30 pm, but then the clashes you know about took place. First of all, we all hope to see a final featuring Sinner in the late afternoon,” he explained. “The fanciful idea of playing on a Monday is not feasible, because, as we’ve said, it would involve at least five different organisations and at least 300,000 people on a weekday. Furthermore, nobody would want to postpone the tennis final,” he added. ‘So, trying to take everyone’s needs into account and relying on the capabilities and professionalism of our law enforcement agencies, the Rome Police Commissioner and the Prefect, I am convinced that the 12.30 pm solution—which, incidentally, will also affect four other organisations—is the one that somehow balances everyone’s interests,’ he concluded.
