Rome, 11 May (LaPresse) – Flavio Cobolli’s run at the Italian Open has come to an end in the round of 32. The Roman tennis player was defeated on Centre Court at the Foro Italico by the Argentine Thiago Agustin, Tirante, the number 69 seed, who won in two sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 15 minutes. This dashes any hopes of breaking the record for the number of Italian players reaching the last 16 at the Italian Open. With Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi and Andrea Pellegrino, there are now four Italian players aiming for a place in the quarter-finals, as was the case in 1979 (Adriano Panatta, Corrado Barazzutti, Paolo Bertolucci and Gianni Ocleppo) and in 2020 (Matteo Berrettini, Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti and Stefano Travaglia).
