Paris, May 31 (LaPresse) – Four-time Paris champion Iga Swiatek fell on the center court to Marta Kostyuk, world No. 15, saying goodbye to Roland Garros. The Ukrainian player, one of the standout performers of this red clay season, unbeaten and on her sixteenth consecutive win, lost 7-5, 6-1. The third seed is out: Kostyuk reaches the Roland Garros quarterfinals for the first time. In the midst of one of her best matches, Sorana Cirstea was forced to retire at 6-3, 7-6(4), clearing the way for Chinese player Xiyu Wang.
