Turin, 8 June (LaPresse) – “Zverev won because of the two cramps our player suffered; without those, I reckon we’d still be on court with Cobolli, with a few more chances than Zverev.” So said FITP president Angelo Binaghi speaking to ‘La Politica nel Pallone’ on Gr Parlamento, reflecting on the Italian player’s defeat in the Roland Garros final. ‘Of course, if they’d told us, ‘Do you want to play the final against Zverev in a straight-sets match in the fifth set?’, we might have had a go at it. In the fifth set, we thought it would be an even match, whereas at the start Zverev was the clear favourite,’ he concluded. "Unfortunately, Flavio had this muscle problem that affected the fifth set. However, this in no way detracts from Flavio’s outstanding performance; it propels him not only into the world’s top ten but towards an even more prestigious career.”
