Washington (USA), 15 April (LaPresse) – Republicans in the Senate have blocked the Democrats’ latest attempt to limit President Trump’s war powers regarding the conflict with Iran. The motion to bring the measure to a vote was defeated by 52 votes to 47. The result largely followed party lines: Republicans and a single Democrat, Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, opposed it, whilst Democrats, joined by a single Republican, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, voted in favour. This was the Democrats’ fourth attempt in recent weeks to force Congress to reaffirm its powers regarding war, as the conflict, now in its second month, continues.
