Seoul (South Korea), Apr 19 (LaPresse) – North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea today, according to neighboring countries, just days after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned that North Korea is making "very serious" progress in its nuclear weapons development program. The missiles, launched from the Sinpo area, traveled about 140 kilometers each toward the country's eastern waters, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said, adding that Seoul remains ready to respond to any provocation from Pyongyang and is in close contact with the United States and Japan for information sharing. In an emergency meeting of the National Security Council, senior South Korean officials expressed concern over North Korea's repeated ballistic missile tests and urged it to stop them immediately.
