Milan, 28 April (LaPresse) – Former French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has announced, in an interview with Le Figaro, his intention to stand for the French presidency in 2027. “I have been ready to stand for election,” he told the French newspaper, “for over three years now. I have brought together locally and nationally elected officials from various political backgrounds – all centre-left or left-wing – along with nearly 150 high-level experts from the civil service, trade unions, associations and the business world.” “Together, we are working on developing a project for France, ahead of the presidential elections, without self-promotion or excessive media exposure, bearing in mind the gravity of the situation the country is facing,” he added. Cazeneuve, a former member of the Socialist Party, served as Prime Minister from 6 December 2016 to 15 May 2017.
