Milan, 9 May (LaPresse) – “Italy wasn’t there when we needed it. And I’ve always been there for Italy, and so has my country.” This was stated by US President Donald Trump in an exclusive telephone interview with *Corriere della Sera* on Saturday morning, referring to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the day after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Rome. When it was pointed out that Italy could supply minesweepers following the ceasefire in Iran, Trump interrupted and repeated: ‘Italy wasn’t there when we needed it.’
