London (United Kingdom), May 9 (LaPresse/AP) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in the aftermath of the heavy defeat suffered by his Labour Party in Thursday’s local elections, sought to signal change by bringing back two figures from previous Labour governments. He appointed former prime minister Gordon Brown as special envoy for global finance and former deputy party leader Harriet Harman as adviser on women’s issues. Starmer is due to deliver a speech on Monday in an attempt to regain momentum, before the government unveils its legislative agenda on Wednesday in a speech to be delivered by Charles III during the official opening of Parliament.
