Moscow, May 25 (LaPresse) – In a phone call with his US counterpart Marco Rubio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russian armed forces have begun systematic strikes against sites in Kyiv used by the Ukrainian armed forces. “On instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Lavrov officially informed the American counterpart that, in response to ongoing attacks by the Kyiv regime against civilian population and infrastructure in Russia, the armed forces of the Russian Federation were initiating systematic and targeted strikes against military sites and related decision-making centers in Kyiv,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement cited by the TASS agency. Lavrov also drew the US Secretary of State’s attention to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s recommendation to “ensure the evacuation of its diplomatic personnel and other citizens from the Ukrainian capital.”
