Rome, May 29 (LaPresse) – No final agreement has yet been reached between Iran and the United States. This was reported by the Tasnim news agency, which is close to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, dismissing U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements on lifting the naval blockade as unilateral and reiterating that the issue of frozen Iranian funds must be addressed before any preliminary agreement. According to Tasnim, Trump’s statements should be viewed with skepticism, arguing that even a potential practical lifting of the naval blockade would merely mark the end of a ceasefire violation, since the blockade should never have been imposed in the first place. The agency also dismissed as baseless the statements by Trump and the U.S. media regarding the nuclear dossier, asserting that the current talks do not concern details related to the nuclear issue. Tasnim added that Trump’s insistence that frozen Iranian funds will not be released only heightens Tehran’s doubts about Washington’s genuine willingness to reach an agreement. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly stated that the status of its frozen assets must be resolved before any initial agreement is reached, the agency concluded.
