Dubai (United Arab Emirates), June 2 (LaPresse/AP) – Iran has cut off communications with mediators for days after Israel threatened to bomb Beirut. The reports from the Fars and Tasnim news agencies, both considered close to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, come as Iran insists that the fighting in Lebanon is part of broader ceasefire negotiations with the United States regarding the war. Israel and the United States, however, maintain that the fighting in Lebanon is separate from the war negotiations with Iran. A regional official involved in the mediation, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the talks, said that Iran has not communicated at all today after stating that a ceasefire in Lebanon was necessary for the negotiations to continue.
