Milan, 7 June (LaPresse) – A Russian drone has struck a spent nuclear fuel storage facility at Chernobyl, causing a fire. This was reported by Energoatom, the Ukrainian state-owned nuclear energy company, which stated that the facility had been damaged but that radiation levels “are within limits”. According to Energoatom, the building used to receive containers that did not contain spent nuclear fuel was partially destroyed. Following the attack, a fire covering 40 square metres broke out, which was contained and extinguished. No injuries were reported among staff.
