Milan, June 8 (LaPresse) – NATO fighter jets shot down a drone this morning after it entered Latvian airspace. This was reported by the Latvian military. “In Latvian airspace, over the Latgale region, fighter aircraft from the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission shot down a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) that had entered Latvia as a result of Russian electronic warfare activity,” the Latvian Ministry of Defence said in a statement, adding that “the National Armed Forces report that the airspace threats announced in the municipalities of Aluksne, Ludza, Balvi and Rezekne have ended.” “As long as Russia’s aggression in Ukraine continues, incidents involving a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle entering or approaching Latvian airspace remain possible,” the Latvian Ministry of Defence concluded.
