Milan, 8 August (LaPresse) – The second weekend of August marks the peak of the summer exodus. Traffic is expected to increase steadily along the Anas network following the closure of most businesses in the country ahead of the Ferragosto week. Anas has therefore suspended further roadworks from today, in addition to those already halted, bringing the total to 1,392, over 83% of those currently active (1,672). According to estimates by the Anas Road Mobility Observatory, 12.64 million car journeys are expected this weekend. The most critical morning will be tomorrow, Saturday 9 August, when Viabilità Italia forecasts heavy traffic with journeys from large urban centres to holiday resorts, the seaside in the south and the mountains in the north, and towards the state borders. This afternoon and Sunday 10 August are forecast to be very busy. The afternoon and evening of Sunday will see a concentration of people returning to the big cities after their short weekend break.
