Berlin (Germany), 21 May (LaPresse/AP) – Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been persuaded to return to the German national team for the World Cup by Germany’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann. The 40-year-old had left the Mannschaft after Euro 2024, but today he has been included in the 26-man squad selected by Nagelsmann for the upcoming tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. His call-up means a demotion for Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, who had been guaranteed the starting spot until, in recent weeks, rumours emerged of a possible return for Neuer under Nagelsmann.
