Madrid (Spain), 1 June. (LaPresse) – Pedro Sanchez's PSOE has renewed its message of "calm and serenity" regarding the judicial investigations involving prominent former socialist figures, including former Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. "We are not afraid of justice," PSOE spokeswoman Montse Minguez said at a press conference. Minguez recalled that last year, after it became known that then-Secretary of the Organization Santos Cerdan was under investigation for an alleged corruption case, there was a renewal of the party leadership and measures were taken to ensure greater transparency. "The citizens were apologized, the Secretary General (Pedro Sanchez, ed.) also apologized," and "changes" were made, he said. Minguez said he did not accept lessons from the People's Party, "the only party convicted of corruption." He stressed that while the PP was "destroying evidence on corruption cases" to obstruct justice, the PSOE is cooperating with investigators. "Citizens must know that we are not all the same," he added, later saying that a "lynching against the political project" of the Socialists was underway.
