Milan, Apr 28 (LaPresse) – There are 605 reports of episodes of discrimination and antisemitic hate “with an upward trend”. This was stated by Raffaele Grassi, deputy director general of Public Security, central director of the Criminal Police, and president of Oscad, during the conference titled “The Victims of Hate”, organised by the Observatory for Security Against Discriminatory Acts (Oscad) of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police. “We are witnessing an evolution of antisemitism,” he said. “Social media amplify messages of hate, allow the rapid circulation of stereotypes and contribute to the normalisation of hate language.” “The challenge is complex,” because “the web is not only a virtual space, but a space where social relationships are created.” It is therefore necessary to “strengthen prevention: monitor and intervene before hate becomes a crime.”
