Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – ‘No legal action will deter me and my colleague Bocellari from trying to re-establish what we believe to be the truth: Alberto Stasi is innocent. Especially after reading the Pavia case files.’ This is what lawyer Antonio De Rensis, Alberto Stasi’s defence counsel, said in an interview with La Repubblica. The documents from the new investigation “increasingly distance Alberto from the culpability established by the court rulings. It is a monumental task, deeper and more complex than I could have imagined.” “It baffles me to read and hear a suspect making allegations of corruption against Napoleone and Civardi. And even more so when some of your colleagues portray the Carabinieri as a bunch of fools. I believe it is more than legitimate to be sceptical of certain media outlets,” he states. “Ever since I began working with Giada Bocellari, I imagined we would end up at this point.” Regarding the lawsuit filed against him by Stefania Cappa, the victim’s cousin, De Rensis explains: “I’m keeping my thoughts to myself. Of course, when she made the complaint public, I defended myself on TV with Milo Infante: I believe I have the right to do so.”
