Rome, May 8 (LaPresse) – “With the U.S. Secretary of State I spoke about Venezuela, Europe, and the African Mediterranean area, reaffirming the importance of the American presence in Europe to strengthen the Alliance.” This was said by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at the end of his bilateral meeting with Marco Rubio. “I also mentioned the issue of tariffs, but it is not the Secretary’s area of competence in trade matters, so I only said that we do not want trade wars and that we support a large market—Europe, the United States, Canada, Mexico—that is our position,” the Foreign Minister added. “I also reiterated to Rubio Italy’s willingness to participate with our Navy, once a stable ceasefire is reached, in demining operations and ensuring freedom of navigation,” Tajani said.
